As part of a wider Eddleston Parish project, the society undertook research and a site survey to understand the origins and history of Kilrubie Farmstead.

Excavations
Campshiel 2007-2010
In 2007, the local legend of ‘smugglers’ on Minchmoor near Traquair lead the society to investigate the possible remains of an illicit whiskey still (and more) on Camp Shiel Burn.
The Shootinglee Project - interim reports
In 2012 the society began exploring the site of Shootinglee, the site of a potential fortified Peel tower and earlier medieval settlement.

Bowden Moor Survey and Excavation
In 2022 the society undertook a LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) survey of medieval earthworks on Bowden Moor, and followed this with excavation to understand how and when it was built.
